Math Department

San Marcos High School is proud of its Mathematics Department, a collaborative team of educators committed to fostering deep understanding, student voice, and equitable access to rigorous learning. Located in a diverse and dynamic community, our program is designed to support all students in developing the skills, confidence, and mindset needed for success in mathematics and beyond.

Through the intentional use of TDG Math Studio strategies, our classrooms emphasize student discourse, critical thinking, and collaborative problem-solving. We are committed to equity and high expectations for all learners, creating environments where every student is actively engaged and supported. By implementing Building Thinking Classrooms practices, we shift the cognitive load to students—encouraging them to take ownership of their learning, work collaboratively, and become the driving force in constructing mathematical understanding.
