SMHS Campus Parking Information

This digital SMHS Student Parking Intent Form is for Junior and Senior students to enter into a random drawing based on available parking spaces. It must be completed using the student’s school email address.

Selected students will receive a notification via their SMHS email by August 8 at 4:00 PM. Those chosen must bring all required parking paperwork to the Assistant Principal’s Office during office hours on August 11–13. If the student cannot attend, a parent/guardian (or relative) may submit the paperwork on their behalf.

Dear SMHS Families,

We would like to extend a warm welcome to the 2025-2026  school year and look forward to another productive year in the Knights' Realm.  We recognize that parking is an essential, but limited, resource at our school. We aim to implement a policy that is transparent, equitable, and aligns with past practice.

Due to a limited number of student parking spots, SENIOR students are given priority during registration week in the Fall (August 5-8). Later, SMHS will conduct a drawing to issue the remaining parking permits to qualifying 12th and 11th grade students, depending on the number of remaining available spaces. Please note that the Smart Start program completion continues to be a requirement for the 25-26 school year.  See the details below for more information about the SMHS parking policy.

  • Issuance of Senior parking permits will be during registration from Tuesday, August 5 to Friday, August 8, 2025 to Seniors with the completed parking requirements (see parking application).  Any Seniors who miss registration week will be allowed to submit a Parking drawing Intent Form to be added to the parking drawing.
    • REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION (all current): completed parking application, driver’s license, proof of insurance and DMV registration for the vehicle that the sticker will be placed on.
  • A digital SMHS Student Parking Intent Form (It must completed using the student’s school email address) will be posted on the school website on August 5 after 4pm.  The form may be completed by 12th & 11th grade students who are interested in parking in the student parking lot. 12th and 11th grade students who complete the form will automatically be placed into the parking drawing and selected randomly based on available spaces. Students who are selected will receive a school email notification on August 8 by 4pm. Selected students must then bring all necessary parking paperwork to the Assistant Principal’s Office during working hours Aug 11-Aug 13. A parent/guardian (or relative) can provide the necessary paperwork if their student is unable to attend during these dates.
  • The drawing will consist of a random selection of eligible 12th and 11th grade students who have properly completed the Intent form and attended Start Smart.  The drawing will be ongoing throughout the school year should any parking spots become available due to transfer scenarios or loss of privilege.
  • Parking permit enforcement will begin on the first day of school.

In addition, as stated in the SMHS Student Handbook, we would like to remind all stakeholders that parking on campus is a privilege and may be revoked at any time due to poor attendance, excessive tardies, disciplinary infractions, and/or unsafe driving while on campus (see SMHS student parking regulations below).

It is strongly recommended that families carpool, utilize public transportation and/or drop/ pickup students to preclude negative circumstances that may arise from parking off campus.  We will continue to explore all options available to us to improve the parking situation to accommodate as many students as possible.  In the meantime, thank you for your ongoing patience and flexibility in supporting our wonderful school and we look forward to a successful 25-26 school year.

Sincerely,

SMHS Administration
